VALENTINE'S DAY

it's that time of year again, when jewelry stores, chocolate companies, and flower shops try to convince consumers that their product is all that your one true love wants to receive.  i hate how commercialized this holiday is, because instead of excitement most people feel the pressure to spend money.  not to mention how all those ads make the singles feel.

so last year, the boogerfish and i agreed to make our valentine's day with the boys personal, enjoyable, and most importantly:  without falling into the commercialized traps.  dinner and a movie is the classical date ritual, so that's what we went with.  however, we did not make reservations at the crowded restaurants, nor did we stand in the long lines at the movie theater.

since we did not take our boys out to the restaurant, we decided to bring the restaurant to them.

we had dinner by candelight and dessert (w/ penis-shaped cupcakes) made by pavel.

after dinner, we chose a movie from our collection of dvd's and watched in our room, while laying in our beds.

then came the gifts:

for two weeks, my room smelled like my favorite flowers:  white tulips and lilies

so that was my valentine's 2005.

i wonder what this one is going to be like...

THIS ENTRY IS DEDICATED TO MY 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH THE BOOGERFISH

this is the girl who has seen me in my days of braces, glasses, and frizzy hair.  we cheated off of each other on high school history tests, snuck out late at night to go to the movies, and vowed to end up in the same college.

she was the only one who came to visit me when i moved to queens and transferred high schools.  she let me borrow her id before i was old enough to go clubbing.  we've shared jobs, test grades, beds, dorm rooms, and many many colds.

the boogerfish has accompanied me to my fashion show, graduation, semi-formal, after prom, and has never missed a single one of my birthdays.  she's even accompanied me half way across the world to china, and then a quarter way around the world to hawaii.

ladies and gents...i present to you:  me and the boogerfish

WRAP-UP OF MY 2005

  • arrived home safely (but still in the process of unpacking)
  • survived MTA strike--walked 30 blocks from penn station for my first day of work at A|X in soho
  • spent christmas at jerry's grandma's house
  • turned 19, but did not celebrate due to crazy working schedule & holiday planning
  • worked on new year's eve, then spent it with jerry and friends at jaisy's
  • officially survived holday season 2005 at A|X

phew.  finally when i think it's time to breathe...i realize that the spring 2006 semester is about to start.
